Admission into KON is reserved for students majoring in a human science who are in the top 25 percent of their class. Joining the GGC chapter were Amani Chahine, Morgan Dickhute, Steven Olsommer – president, James Salomon – vice president, Jamie Stafford – treasurer and Rebekah Tarbutton – secretary. Serving as the faculty liaison for the GGC chapter is Karen Perell-Gerson, professor of exercise science and a KON member.
In addition to student inductees, the society admitted two members of the GGC faculty, Pamela Anderson and Lauren Tapp, both assistant professors of exercise science.
“The mission of Kappa Omicron Nu is to create empowered leaders through scholarship, research and leadership,” said Perell-Gerson. “Kappa Omicron Nu provides not only recognition and honor but also lifelong opportunities for networking, personal growth and professional growth through education and service.”
Formally established in 1990, Kappa Omicron Nu consolidated two other honor societies, Kappa Omicron Phi and Omicron Nu, which have roots dating back to 1912.
