Writing at the “They Took My Books” blog, former Gwinnett CFO and County Administrator Charlotte Nash challenges the Library Board’s decision to convert to a “regional library system” and transition certain facilities to computer labs:
By the way, in case you are questioning just whose library system it is anyway, let me spell it out. The Gwinnett County Public Library belongs to the residents of Gwinnett County, even if the Library Board and Executive Director seem unaware of this fact. We voted in 1986 to go into debt by issuing bonds to replace horribly inadequate facilities and to build additional ones. We voted in 2000 and 2004 to add branches through the use of SPLOST funds. In 2008, we voted to fund two replacement libraries with SPLOST as well.
