Just past the historic square in Lawrenceville, nestled comfortably next to the train tracks sits the newly renovated event space aptly named 550 Trackside. It’s stony exterior is mimicked inside creating a rustic, warm space, inviting for any occasion. Sunlight pours in from windows perched throughout the large space allowing the natural light to elegantly light your event. The Cathedral-like ceiling, made from wood salvaged from the original building during renovation, offers another simple yet elegant touch. To complete the total package the décor, from antique chandeliers and sconces to an old train engine mold to an 1800’s train trash receptacle from France, 550 Trackside is a unique event space.
As a newly engaged, Lawrenceville born and raised, bride-to-be, 550 Trackside was the first stop on my list of possible venues. I wanted a space that would be large enough for our wedding and reception, a place that would capture my & my fiancé’s personalities, and a place that was affordable all while being sophisticated. Upon arriving at 550 Trackside, we ventured through the quaint courtyard to the main entrance where we were kindly greeted by owner/operator Roger Kahn. After receiving some historical information on the space, which has been used for everything from an old cotton warehouse in its conception in the early 1900’s to a computer warehouse, we began our exploration. Kahn’s attention to detail that gives 550 Trackside such charming flare continues in his tour of the facility – each antique noted, each hand-crafted iron work marked. His “whatever the customer wants” attitude is a welcoming customer service that comes natural to Kahn.
550 Trackside’s granite walls, archways, original wood and fireplace, which have all have been restored to their original beauty create the perfect atmosphere for any occasion providing a warm and unforgettable ambiance for guests.
After leaving 550 Trackside that Saturday morning, my fiancé and I were blubbering fools about the space – its beautifully rustic space, its details in décor, its cost, its everything. Our adoration of the space will come full circle next September as we celebrate our special day with our family, our friends and 550 Trackside.
